Painter, paint!

“Painter, paint!” (Salvador Dalí) is a rallying cry for anyone interested in fulfilling a subconscious or tentatively expressed desire to someday, somehow, lay paint on canvas, or anyone who has already drawn or painted, but has felt somehow disappointed or disillusioned with the outcome. We hope to instil the artist mindset fundamental to overcoming creative blocks – and to do so in the most congenial of rural settings, as Barberà has many inspiring subjects for the artist: ancient buildings of ochre-yellow stone, narrow streets and houses, arched doorways, nooks and crannies with fountains and olive trees, vineyards, wheat fields and pine-strewn trails, not to mention fabulous Tarragona sunsets silhouetting the castle, church or wine cooperative.

The activity, specifically designed for would-be and amateur artists, consists of daily tutored sessions, a number of art-related and cultural activities, and free time to go walking with or without your sketch book.

Mary Finn is an Irish professional artist, whose lifelong passion for art led her, as a mature student, to take a Degree in Visual Art (Honours) from the Dublin Institute of Technology (2014). She has shown her work in numerous exhibitions in Ireland and the UK and has work in collections in the UK, USA, Austria, Italy, Germany and South Africa. She annually attends the Slade Summer School at University College London and, on the strength of her track record, artistic achievements and reputation, has also been awarded residencies at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, a workplace for artists funded by the Irish Arts Council.  Read more about Mary and her "Dear Miss O'Connell" exhibition at Changing Spaces, Cambridge, UK (2016).
