In vino veritas

This (extendable) weekend activity, in the picturesque village of Barberá, is the perfect opportunity not only to experience the winemaking process from vine to wine, but to do so from the perspective of family-owned wineries that both craft their own wines and participate in terroir-driven wine production by Spain’s oldest wine cooperative, La Cooperativa Agrícola de Barberà de la Conca, which, as it happens, celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2019.

You will visit a biodynamic vineyard whose return to nature’s way is now clearly showing results in the soil, in the vines and in wines and cavas with a unique personality. You will also visit Barberà’s "wine cathedral" (home to La Cooperativa) and the Viver de Celleristes, the village’s incubator project, which builds on Barberà’s strong connections with the cooperative movement in providing young wine entrepreneurs with equipment, resources and support, not to mention opportunities to learn from each other.  You will have ample opportunities to sample local wines and cavas, including in an ancient vineyard with stunning views of the village, and to partake of a KM0 dinner and a very special “vintage” dinner, both based on local gastronomic traditions and seasonal produce sourced and prepared locally.
